B1.1 Understanding the place
At the start of the design process, understanding the place is a vital step when considering designing anything new. This includes building a clear picture of the site and its surroundings, what gives it it’s character, and how it fits into the wider context. By taking time to observe and reflect, we can create designs that sit comfortably in the local area and enhance its identity.
These simple but thoughtful steps will help ensure that any proposals are grounded in a real understanding of the place, and that they celebrate what makes our District special.
