Proposed developments must incorporate secure (including CCTV), covered cycle parking in prominent locations, which are clearly signed. This must be located within 50 metres of primary building entrances to encourage sustainable commuting.

Proposed communal cycle parking provision should include:
a minimum 30% of spaces should be Sheffield-type stands with integral lock plates tested and certified to Sold Secure Gold standard, allowing the cycle frame and wheel to be locked securely
a minimum of 5% of spaces should be Sheffield-type stands at 1.2 metre spacing to accommodate non-standard and adapted cycles, such as access bikes and cargo bikes
up to a maximum 70% (of the total provision) may be two-tiered racking where space is constrained
well-overlooked and lit cycle parking to maintain passive surveillance and user safety.
installation of a floor- or wall-mounted public bike pump (which is gas powered), where more than 40 cycle spaces are provided
installation of a public bike pump and repair tool station, where more than 80 cycle spaces are provided

Proposals should seek to provide greater cycle parking provision than the minimum (20-30% uplift) wherever possible.
