B5.6.1 Access to private outdoor spaces
Guidance: G5.27
Development proposals should ensure that every new home is provided with access to private or communal outdoor space (such as a garden, balcony, or terrace) that is intended solely for the use of residents and not accessible to the wider public.
Exception: For proposals within the Urban Area Type (50+dph) and Highly Urban Area Type (80+dph), where the provision of private or communal outdoor space is not feasible, the requirement may be waived if the home has suitable and convenient access to local open space.
